Okay, so where have I been? I wholeheartedly apologize for my scantness and sparsity in posting news here. I will try to be better.
Where did we leave off? The Valentine's day party. You will be able to see some of the pictures from the party in our February 2006 album (coming soon). It was a big success. Food, fun, and friendship were on the menu for the party, and the students said that they had a good time. We had about 20 students show up, and about that many Thai Christians were there to help as well. The party was held on a Sunday afternoon and lasted right up until the Sunday night worship service. It happened that I was preaching that evening, and 6 students stayed for the evening worship. Because we are studying lessons from major stories found in the Old Testament, I preached on how the Old is a shadow of the New and points people to Christ.
I think that I said in one of the posts that we are using teaching material originated by Mark Huddleston for the same type of work he and his family were doing Mito, Japan. We have started everyone out on a 2 book series called "Overview of the Bible - Lessons from the Past." This series is for the students who already have a basic knowledge of English and conversation. For our beginning students, we also have a lessons that are for basic, everyday English and conversation. One of our missions is to develop materials that the church here can use once we are gone, as a continuing lesson that progresses the students through the Bible, from the generic to the specific. If you can, help us by suggesting good ideas for a series of lessons from the Bible that will both be profitable in teaching about Christ but also provides enough material to make into lessons for conversation. We would like the topic to be long enough so that it can have at least 10 lessons.
To add to the things I would like to do, I am meaning to do some interviews with the people that we work with here at the church. They are all great people and are excellent examples of Christian character. Look for these videos in March. (hopefully)
